WDLA Hosts D89's Hispanic Heritage Celebration

On September 22, 2022, Washington Dual Language Academy had the honor of hosting District 89’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. It was an afternoon filled with sun and smiling faces as our community came together to enjoy the cultural event.  The playground was brightly decorated with tables sponsored by each district school representing a Latin American country along with our community partners who provided useful information along with treats.

The highlight of the event was WDLA’s very own second graders performing a traditional dance from Honduras called “punta”. Thank you to Mrs. Loveshe, Mrs. Sapoznick and Mrs. A. Perez for preparing our young scholars for the performance. A special thank you to Mrs. Wrobel’s Art Club for the amazing artwork and to our partner schools for their beautiful displays which made this event all the more memorable.

We are grateful to all those in attendance and hope to see you at the next District 89 event!
