Unity Day - Standing Together for Kindness and Inclusion
On October 16, District 89 came together to celebrate Unity Day, an important event held each year during National Bullying Prevention Month. Unity Day promotes kindness, acceptance, and inclusion—values that help create a healthier and more supportive environment for everyone. To mark the occasion, students and staff proudly wore orange, the symbol of solidarity, to show their commitment to these ideals, a commitment that is deeply valued and respected.
A highlight of the day was the students-created banners featuring messages from our Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS). These banners, filled with powerful words of encouragement and unity, reflected the shared desire to make the school a safe and welcoming space for all.
Together, the students and staff embraced Unity Day’s message, reinforcing that we all play a role in standing up against bullying and building a stronger, more compassionate community.
